First African to lead global cancer fight: "Cases could triple"
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu of Nigeria became president-elect of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the first African in the role. She warns that cancer cases are rising fastest in poorer countries and could triple without decisive action. She says Africa urgently needs investment in research, diagnostics and cancer prevention.
