Thorium-229 nuclear clock laser-locked with feedback control

A second independent team of researchers built an optical nuclear clock based on thorium-229, stabilizing a continuous laser to the nuclear transition at 148 nm wavelength using a fast feedback loop based on absorption spectroscopy. Results were published October 7 in "Nature". It is the second article in the same journal issue confirming a breakthrough in nuclear clock technology.
