Child's skull found built into floor of 2,500-year-old Scandinavian house

Archaeologists studied 192 human bones from settlements in present-day Denmark, Norway and Sweden, dated to the Iron Age and Viking Age (around 500 BCE – 1050 CE). They found that victims of violence — men, women and children — were buried not in mounds or cemeteries, but in pits, wells and beneath house floors. One of the most striking discoveries is a child's skull built into the floor of a Scandinavian house from 2,500 years ago.
