Franklin knew about DNA helix before Watson and Crick

New archival research suggests Rosalind Franklin understood the significance of her famous Photo 51 from May 1952 and knew it revealed the double helix of DNA. The photograph was not a chance experiment — Franklin took it deliberately as an improved version of earlier Photo 49, with publication in mind. These findings challenge the narrative that Watson and Crick independently interpreted her work without her knowledge.
