Truso near Elbląg: amber, slaves and traces of Christianity

Near Elbląg, archaeologists are investigating the remains of Truso, a Viking trading settlement mentioned in the ninth-century account of Anglo-Saxon traveler Wulfstan. Findings include amber, gaming objects, and the earliest evidence of Christianity in Polish lands. The settlement was a trading hub, including in the slave trade, connecting Scandinavia with the rest of Europe.
