Moon to obscure Jupiter Tuesday morning: decade-rare event

On Tuesday, October 6, before dawn, residents of eastern and central North America, Canada, and the Caribbean will be able to observe the Moon occulting Jupiter. The planet will disappear behind the Moon's disk for about an hour before suddenly reappearing. The Moon will be a narrow crescent at 20% illumination. The next such conjunction will not occur for another 11 years.
