Parishioners block church in Grojec, shielding recalled priest from bishop

Sunday evening, hundreds of residents in Grojec near Oświęcim surrounded their church, blocking the exit for Bishop Roman Pindel, who arrived for a routine pastoral visit. Parishioners defended their recalled priest, who had served in the role for 30 years. Police negotiators resolved the situation — the bishop was evacuated at night under escort.
