Arkona: the only known Slavic temple and heart of Slavic religion

Arkona on the Rugia peninsula was the most important center of Slavic worship in the 11th and 12th centuries. It is the only Slavic sacred site whose location is certain today. The temple was a thorn in the side of missionaries Christianizing Europe by force.
