Illinois physicists find traces of electron-pair density wave above superconductivity temperature
Scientists at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign discovered that signs of electron-pair ordering persist in their studied material even after superconductivity disappears. They observed a so-called charge density wave—a phenomenon that may shed new light on the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity. The discovery is considered potentially groundbreaking for materials physics.
