Death of plague institute worker in Siberia: diagnosis given as "pneumonia"
A worker at an anti-plague institute in Irkutsk region in Siberia has died in circumstances that sparked speculation about a return of the Black Death. Russia's Rospotrebnadzor said the woman had "pneumonia of undetermined etiology" and the situation in the region is "stable". Russian authorities officially reject rumors of a plague outbreak.
