Half of Polish hospitals in deficit: combined loss exceeds 1 billion zloty
In the first half of 2026, 165 out of 339 hospitals operating in Poland reported losses, according to Central Statistical Office data. The combined deficit of these facilities exceeded 1 billion zloty. The main cause is rising costs of so-called external services, including doctors working simultaneously in multiple hospitals for up to 72 hours a day.
