Anthropic AI discovers new enzyme system resembling CRISPR

Anthropic's new research lab announced an autonomous discovery of a previously unknown enzyme system in the genome of giant phages, displaying architectural similarity to the CRISPR gene-editing mechanism. Machine learning algorithms independently identified biological anomalies in genomic data. Results were published as a preprint; it is Anthropic's first direct result from the new facility.
