Tsar Peter the Great sentenced his own son to death for treason
Peter the Great, who ruled Russia from 1689–1725, was known for ruthlessly punishing any signs of resistance. His eldest son Alexey Romanov learned this painfully — accused of treason, he died by his own father's hand. The tsar showed no mercy even to his closest family member, demonstrating that power was absolute for him.
