EU from 2027: free carry-on baggage and higher compensation for flight delays
The European Union agreed on sweeping revisions to air passenger rights rules, replacing Regulation 261/2004 in force for over two decades. From the second half of 2027, airlines must provide free carry-on baggage, higher compensation for delayed flights, and better rules for replacement flights and refunds. The new rules also target no-show practices, where carriers cancel an entire booking if a passenger misses the first leg.
