Copernicus: Europe's summer sets heat and drought records
Europe's summer was the third warmest on record according to Copernicus data — 52% of the continent experienced "very strong" heat stress. Temperatures of European sea surfaces hit record or near-record highs, and river flows reached their lowest level in over 30 years. Western Europe was particularly affected, with record air temperatures recorded.
