Peatbog in Karkonosze mountains proposed as Anthropocene boundary marker
A peatbog beneath Śnieżka in the Karkonosze mountains has made the shortlist of three proposed auxiliary sites for marking the boundary of the Anthropocene. Researchers from University of Leicester, Colin N. Waters and Jan Zalasiewicz, identified this location in "Nature Reviews Earth & Environment". The peatbog there preserves traces of global changes from the mid-20th century that could serve as a geological reference point for a new epoch.
