Medicare Advantage insurers raise costs, cut benefits for seniors in 2027
Major US insurers including UnitedHealth Group and Humana are raising out-of-pocket costs for Medicare Advantage participants and sharply cutting dental and other benefits starting in 2027. The companies are also eliminating plans with broad hospital and doctor networks, which may mean a patient's current doctor will no longer be covered. The changes stem from investor pressure over margins smaller than promised. Open enrollment for 2027 plans begins October 15.
