Nawrocki signs windfall fuel profits tax law: Orlen to pay around 4 billion zloty

President Karol Nawrocki signed a law imposing a tax on excess profits from fuels and simultaneously referred it to the Constitutional Tribunal in subsequent proceedings. The law takes effect and fuel companies — primarily Orlen — will pay roughly 4 billion zloty combined. The government promises fuel price cuts at stations, but the mechanism is not automatic and guarantees no immediate reductions.
