Copernicus report: oceans absorbed heat equal to 40 times world's energy use
The tenth Copernicus Ocean State Report (OSR10) published Wednesday warns that last year the oceans absorbed additional heat equivalent to about 40 times the world's total energy consumption in the same period. The report's authors call it "the most severe warning" of profound climate changes. The phenomenon is particularly alarming given intensifying El Niño, affecting from Antarctica to the Baltic.
