Truck driver offered police 200 zł bribe to avoid 300 zł fine

On Tuesday, September 29, traffic police in Sandomierz stopped a truck — the driver had exceeded the speed limit and was not wearing a seatbelt. He received fines totaling 300 zł and 8 penalty points. The 53-year-old pulled out 200 zł and offered it to the officers in exchange for dropping the charges. He ended up in custody; prosecutors charged him with bribery, which carries a sentence of one to 10 years in prison.
