Japan buys 12 times more U.S. oil, now 33.7% of total imports
Japan increased crude oil imports from the United States more than twelvefold over the past year, with American oil now accounting for 33.7% of Japanese imports, nearly matching Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the importance of Middle Eastern suppliers is clearly declining. The shift may permanently reshape the global oil market and put pressure on Brent prices.
