California bans firing workers through AI algorithms

Governor Gavin Newsom signed legislation prohibiting so-called "robo-bosses"—AI algorithms—from firing workers without human involvement. California is the first US state to enact such a law. Newsom previously vetoed a similar bill; this time he changed his mind.
