Killed grandmother in Piła and hid for 18 years. Cold case unit caught him
In June 2008, a 73-year-old woman living alone on Bydgoska Street in Piła was murdered — she was found with her hands bound and mouth taped, having died from extensive skull and brain injuries inflicted with a blunt instrument. The investigation was closed due to failure to identify the perpetrator. In late 2023, the case was transferred to the Poznań Cold Case Unit, which using modern methods of biological trace analysis managed to establish the identity of the suspect. The man lived free for 18 years.
