Chimpanzee mother teaches daughter to fish for ants with stick
A camera trap in the Dindefelo reserve in Senegal recorded a chimpanzee mother actively teaching her daughter to use a stick to fish for ants. When the young one wandered off, the mother set down the tool and brought her back, then carefully watched as her daughter practiced the technique. Researchers claim the mother deliberately changed her behavior to allow her daughter to use the tool — suggesting intentional knowledge transfer among chimpanzees.
