Tigray rebels enter Afar, threatening Djibouti corridor
Forces from TPLF (Tigray People's Liberation Front) have taken the town of Erebti and are advancing toward Afdeery in Ethiopia's Afar region. The offensive threatens the corridor through Djibouti, through which nearly all of Ethiopia's international trade flows, potentially giving rebels leverage over the federal government. At least 150,000 people may be forced to leave their homes in Afar alone. Ethiopia accuses neighboring countries of supporting the offensive.
