EU opens accession talks with Moldova despite unresolved Transnistria issue
Brussels has opened new negotiation clusters for Moldova's accession despite the separatist region of Transnistria on the left bank of the Dniester flying a Russian flag, hosting a Russian garrison, and being funded by Moscow. The European Union has a plan and funds intended to help reintegrate the separatist region with the rest of the country.
