French far-right National Rally wins Senate group for first time

Far-right politics in France has for the first time created a parliamentary group in the Senate. Marine Le Pen's National Rally and its allies won 14 of 348 seats in Sunday's indirect elections to the upper house. Half the Senate is elected every three years, with senators serving six-year terms; the chamber is dominated by the right.
