Over 55,000 Sudanese flee to Chad as UN appeals for funds

The UN refugee agency warns that around 400 people daily are fleeing eastern Sudan to Chad — twenty times more than before. In total, more than 55,000 refugees have crossed the border. The UN calls on the international community to urgently provide aid for the refugees.
