Nepal's PM warns UN: Himalayan floods are alarm signal for world

Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah said Thursday at the UN that last month's devastating floods are "a warning to the world" about growing climate threats in the Himalayas. He explained that climate warming is accelerating glacier and permafrost melt. He called on the international community for financial and technological support, stressing Nepal cannot address these threats alone.
