Final conviction in 8-year-old Oskar's murder: 20 years, not 25

An appeals court reduced the sentence for the murder of 8-year-old Oskar from 25 to 20 years in prison. Judge Arkadiusz Hryniszyn noted that 25 years is imposed on offenders who are demoralized and show no prospect of reform, and the trial court failed to consider mitigating circumstances: Dorota G.'s attempts to save the child by calling an ambulance and her expressed remorse. According to the court's findings, the woman smothered her son in a moment of weakness while struggling with his difficult behavior.
