Demographic decline closes schools: 323 shuttered in 2023-2025

Poland closed 323 schools and 150 public kindergartens from 2023 to 2025, according to Education Ministry data. Falling student numbers are forcing local governments to make drastic decisions; some schools have 23 teachers for just 40 pupils, and in extreme cases entire facilities have 22 students. Experts warn the problem will worsen as the demographic decline continues.
