Illinois legalizes euthanasia: Deb's Law allows choice of death

Illinois became the first Midwestern state and the thirteenth in the nation overall (along with the District of Columbia) to pass a medical aid-in-dying law, called "Deb's Law." It allows terminally ill patients to make their own decision about the manner and timing of death. The law is named for a woman who lobbied for its passage and is herself terminally ill.
