Zelensky: Ukraine reclaimed nearly as much territory as Russia seized in 2026

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia captured about 890 km² of Ukrainian territory in 2026, while Ukraine reclaimed about 800 km² on other front sections. Moscow gained a net territorial advantage of only about 100 km² despite heavy losses. Zelensky emphasized that the balance of fighting is costly for Russia.
