China launches satellite with AI processing images in real time

On 20 September, a Kinetica 1 Y18 rocket launched from the Dongfeng center carrying nine satellites. The most important, Supercomputing-1 (S-AIDC-1), has a camera and AI computer designed to analyze images directly in orbit without transmitting raw data to Earth. According to CAS Space, response time would drop from hours to just minutes; these are declared specifications for now.
