Fire closes power plant in Yakutia: residents without electricity and heat

Tuesday morning, a fire broke out at the Nieriungri power plant in Russian Yakutia in eastern Siberia. The fire forced closure of one of the region's largest power plants, leaving residents without electricity and hot water. The situation is especially serious because Yakutia's heating season began in late August.
