Unmanned vessel Excalibur fired Mk 48 torpedo in Scotland

On September 13 at Scotland's BUTEC range, the British unmanned underwater vehicle Excalibur fired an American heavy-weight Mk 48 torpedo. The test, conducted jointly by the US and UK, may set a new direction for underwater operations by eliminating the need for crew on board.
