Submerged land bridge between Sicily and Malta studied after 13,000 years

Italian and Maltese scientists have completed an eight-day BRIDGES mission in the Mediterranean, examining a submerged land bridge that once connected Sicily to Malta. The bridge existed about 13,000 years ago before the sea swallowed it. The research aims to help reconstruct ancient human and animal migrations and understand the region's climate history.
