Scientists: strong El Niño could kill over 450,000 people

According to a new scientific report, a strong El Niño event could cause over 450,000 deaths. The poorest countries, already struggling with food insecurity and high energy costs, will suffer the heaviest losses. Rising temperatures and associated extreme weather will deepen existing inequalities.
