Britain releasing thousands of prisoners: Poles may be among them
Britain is preparing to release thousands of prisoners early to ease overcrowded prisons. Twelve percent of inmates are foreigners — mainly citizens of Poland and Romania, as well as Albania. Authorities in other countries were not informed of these plans, raising concerns: "This is a ticking time bomb — they should warn us," say sources. The problem is that the British treat releases as an internal matter, not coordinating with countries of origin.
