OSW expert: Putin forced Russians into complicity in war through elections

An expert from the Centre for Eastern Studies assesses that Russian elections were a violent show of state power — a demonstration of citizens' helplessness before the Kremlin. According to her, Putin wanted all of Russia to become complicit in the aggression: "So everyone gets soaked in blood up to their elbows". The analyst emphasizes that falsified results send a signal: "We lie shamelessly, but you are powerless to do anything". Russia will face serious consequences for this price in the future.
