Lower Oder Valley National Park drying up: waterways nearly disappeared

The director of Lower Oder Valley National Park at the Polish border, Dirk Treichel, warns that the Oder level is just 19 cm above sea level — far below the long-term minimum average. In an interview with Die Tageszeitung, he said such a dramatic situation has never been recorded before. Waterways within the park have practically dried up completely.
