IMF warns developed nations: debt rising like stairs, time to cut it
International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva called on developed countries to reduce public debt amid rising costs of servicing it. In an interview with the BBC, she said successive economic shocks had pushed debt levels "like climbing stairs — and not leading to heaven". The IMF demands corrective action before higher interest rates make debt management impossible.
