Millions of Americans to lose Medicaid over work requirement

New US rules introduce a work requirement as a condition for using Medicaid—public health insurance for the poorest. The changes are intended to reduce federal spending on the program by about 1 trillion dollars over 10 years. Elderly people, people with disabilities, and low-income families will be hit hardest; while formally able to meet the work requirement, they face practical barriers.
