Venice plans six-fold increase in day-tripper entry fee

Venice authorities have announced significant hikes to the entry fee for day-trip tourists. The current rate is 10 euros, and new rules could increase it as much as six times over. The city also plans to extend the period during which the fee will apply. Some visitor categories will be exempt from the new tariff.
