Russia legalizes cryptocurrencies while banning them for payments
Russia is accelerating the development of domestic regulatory frameworks for the cryptocurrency market, but continues to prohibit their use for internal payments. The Russian Central Bank estimates that the sector could fully operate under the new regulations by the end of 2026. First Deputy Governor of the Russian Central Bank Vladimir Chistyukhin announced on September 21 that work on implementing regulations is proceeding on schedule.
