Von der Leyen: Europe loses nearly one-quarter of water, new initiative needed

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in the annual State of the Union address identified water scarcity as one of Europe's key economic challenges. She warned that water losses threaten agriculture, energy and supply chains. She announced launching a new European water initiative.
