U.S., Denmark and Greenland sign Arctic military base agreement
The United States, Denmark, and Greenland are to sign an Arctic security agreement in New York on September 22. The agreement provides for reopening an American base in Narsarsuaq in the south of the island and establishing a new outpost in Mestersvig in the east. The initiative aims to strengthen NATO's oversight of the region and limit Russian and Chinese influence while respecting the sovereignty of Copenhagen and Greenlandic authorities.
