Russia launches Arctic oil exports: Vostok Oil project begins

After several years of delays, Russia has begun commercial oil exports from the Vostok Oil project — the largest new oil venture since the Soviet collapse. The Kremlin hopes the project will become a pillar of Russia's oil sector and allow it to redirect exports to Asian markets. This is the last major Arctic field being developed by Russia.
