Meta unveils Petal undersea cable with 1 petabit-per-second capacity

Meta announced construction of a transatlantic undersea cable called Petal that will connect the United States and France across roughly 7,000 km. It will reach 1 petabit-per-second capacity — a record for this type of infrastructure. The cable is planned to enter service in 2029.
