Spanish National Library document sheds new light on Galileo's achievements
An unknown 1666 document found in Spain's National Library describes a telescope belonging to the Viceroy of New Spain. Dominican Ignacio Muñoz disassembled the instrument and compiled a detailed description of its construction. The discovered reference may change how we view Galileo's contribution to the development of optics and the telescope. José María Moreno Madrid of the University of Limerick drew attention to the document.
